New kismet-devel dr After a lot of development time (sorry about that) a new -devel with major changes is up. This one rolls out most of the IPC stuff for packet capture, that was just a bad idea, but uses IPC to control the channels securely. Some packet sources got renamed to be more consistent - cisco_cvs is now cisco_wifix since it's not limited to just cisco sources anymore... Overall, the packet processing stream is about 10 - 15 times (not percent) faster. This means good things for embedded/low power platforms like the wrt54g linksys router, and handhelds like the zaurus and ipaq. New packet sources should be merged in Real Soon Now, so madwifi and prismgt will be showing up in the next day or so. Channel control and monitor mode are mostly moved to programmatic control instead of calling external scripts or commands (with a few exceptions - rewriting wlan-ng's ioctl magic just wasn't realistic) so things should be faster (channel changing), more efficient (exec() is a bit expensive) and have better error reporting (minimizing confusion is a big focus of the next release). New documentation for the whole project is underway but isn't done enough to release yet. Check kis_packsources.cc to see what your favorite capsource got renamed to if the one you're used to doesn't work anymore. The new names should generally make more sense, sorry for the confusion as things change. This devel drop has a LOT of changes (9000 line diff), so please test it out and report back on any problems.
